I hope all you guys in the US had an amazing Thanksgiving last week! For those of you in other countries, I hope your Thursday was also amazing!
I personally like Thanksgiving a little more than Christmas. No offense to Christmas or anything, Thanksgiving is just a similar gathering of family, but like half the expectations. Plus, I make a mean green bean casserole. (here’s the recipe, its delicious)
I digress though, this post isn’t about holidays. This post is about being sick! Fun right? Over the past week I have been sicker than I’ve been in years and its super sucked. Its hard to be your best self on the outside when you are feeling so gross on the inside. I don’t know about you guys, but I tend to hear what my body is trying to tell me, then promptly ignore it. I have the worst case of FOMO of anyone I know, and sometimes (most of the times) that translates in to ignoring my limits, and not taking the best care of myself.
When I finally do get to it, my favorite ways to take care of myself when I’m feeling icky, are to get a hot cozy drink, and put on my favorite comfy clothes. And that’s exactly what I did while hanging out with my sister for this shoot! We had planned to wander around my neighborhood, and catch up for a few hours (even though we see each other all the time). I threw on my favorite teddy coat, which by the way, I am 100% in on this trend. There is nothing better than feeling like you’re getting a hug from a giant stuffed animal! My other favorite cozy thing is basically anything wool. I feel like I enter in to fall kicking and screaming, but once I accept that the sun is gone, my sadness is replaced with so much excitement to start wearing wool socks and sweaters again!
I love going over the top, and experimenting with fun outfits in the warmer months, but unless I have somewhere special to be in the winter and fall, I tend to dress down quite a bit. You can basically find me in some variation of this look on any given day. It might not be super fancy, or even super fashion forward, but it is super comfortable, and sometimes that’s enough!
